Capacitor

"Capacitor is a San Francisco interdisciplinary dance company. Renowned for Conceptually-rich, bound-breaking performances. Capacitor artists collaborate with member of the scientific community to create mind-expanding, heart-gripping live performance.

From the movement of the human diaphragm to the story of evolution, from the behavior of electricity to genertic manipulation, from the birth of the moon to the cycles of digestion - natural and synthetic processes from the basis for Capacitors study of performance. Obsessed with the mechanics of the human body as well as machines that propel the body through space, Capacitor artists have become masters of rigging systems, coutures of wearable sculture, and engineers of large-scale props designed to stretch the limits of physical poetry.

Capacitor encourages contact with scientific concepts in ways which allow audiences of all ages to see patterns and relationships inherent in nature and the cosmos. Through performance, Capacitor personalizes large, abstract concepts and in doing so, transcends cultural barriers - widening the scope of basic human experience."

Ian has been dancing with Capacitor since the fall of 2008.

"Corpi liquidi was created by Kira Maria Kirsch it is a physical dance company/ dance project/dance education involving other artists and dedicated students. corpi liquidi stands for fluid, permeable, ever-changing dancing bodies. the liquid body is the master of transition and transformation."

Ian has been involved with Corpi Liquidi almost since its inception in 2007. He has assisted with the administration of the production of "Chain Reaction" an intensive multi-disciplinary dance program, and has danced Kira's choreography at CounterPulse.

Ian is a dedicated student of the Axis Syllabus, which he has been learning from Kira since 2005. The Axis Syllabus is a movement training and weight distribution analysis system that takes physiodynamics and anatomical parameters into account.
